Hi Dr Karl.
I’m 52, and have gradually changed my diet to a ketogenic diet. (More towards Carnivore than Keto.)
As I continue through this journey, I am learning more about ketosis, and also about some of the reported benefits that other ketogenic diet followers have experienced.
By week 2, I felt better than I EVER have before. By week 10, I am experiencing amazing mental clarity, I no longer have anxiety, I seem to need less sleep (6hrs), I now have no constipation, I am 10kg lighter, and actually have more muscle too.
I am starting to believe (now from my own experiences) that we have been taught the wrong nutrition advice, almost world wide, since the 1960s, that sugar and processed carbs are benign, and that glucose is necessary for the human body to use for energy.
Though I would love to ask you 50 questions, I have prioritized these to ask basically 3 (if that’s ok).
1) What do you think is the best fuel for the human body – Glucose, or ketones? And why?
2) Have you seen any convincing reports of diseases going into complete remission as a result of a ketogenic diet? (e.g. Crohn’s disease, I.B.S., Diabetes, or even various cancers?) I have heard unconfirmed (though apparently documented) reports of all of these.
3) In your opinion, could the above diseases (and potentially many others) have been caused by long term use of glucose in the blood, from diets of excessive carbs and sugar?
Rhetorical question – Does our health system need to change, to be more focused on ketogenic diets?
Thanks Dr Karl.
